Jungle Cup concept:

It’s a concept to improve the environment at large and increase the Oxygen level through developing Miyawaki Rapid Forest in the rural areas. Water Level is also going down in the rural part of India so Rapid Forest would help to hold the water level and it will increase it by so many trees in most of the villages. Water Cup was a successful project in Maharashtra and it has helped to save the water as well as many water storage projects came up through the concept.

Miyawaki Rapid Forest is also based on the concept of Shramadaan which people would contribute for the development of the Rapid Forest in the villages of Maharashtra. Initially 50 such forests would be developed with the help of Grampanchayats and Government officials. People would be a center point and their ownership on Jungle Cup will create the competition among these villages to win the prize for their Jungle.

At the heart of this competition is ‘Shramadaan’ (voluntary labour). Every single day, united offer Shramadaan and contributed their time and efforts towards a greater good.

The Jungle Cup platform enables villagers to address the crisis of trees and water scarcity as one, break the cycle of Government dependence, and experience the glory of making their village tree-abundant through their own efforts.

After the plantations through Miyawaki rapid forest concept, winning villages at the state level were publicly felicitated with large cash prizes in a grand award ceremony.

Objectives of this project:

  • To grow 50 Miyawaki Rapid Forests on 50000-60000 sq. ft. area in different villages of Maharashtra in next one year 2022-23.
  • To teach villagers the method to grow rapid forest in their villages.
  • To create a competition among the villages to grow forests and win awards.
  • Aimed at restoring and creating indigenous forests, only native species are carefully planted during afforestation in this method. Chemical fertilizers are not used and the forest by this method grows ten times faster and thirty times denser. Where conventional forests take 200-300 years to fully develop, Miyawaki forests produce the desired results in just 10-20 years.
  • Miyawaki forests absorb 30% and more carbon dioxide than conventional forests, reduce noise and dust emissions by 30% and remain 30% greener.

Theme: To create Miyawaki Rapid Forests on Grampanchayats land by taking people’s participation, create competition among the villagers and provide award to successful grower.

Proposed location for Miyawaki: 50 Miyawaki Rapid Forests at different village’s Grampanchayats of Maharashtra on 50000-60000 sq. ft. land (One Rapid Forest would be 1000-1200 sq. ft in the village)
