Story of Madhuri Arjun Chavan
Born in 1995, Madhuri is 19 years old. There are 8 members in her family. She stays in a chawl in Shivaji Nagar, Andheri East along with her father, mother, four younger sisters and a brother. Her father is a driver and her mother is a housewife. All her siblings are currently studying. Before coming in contact with SAPREM and Mumbai Smiles project team , her family was facing a lot of financial hardships as her father was the sole earning member in the family. Being the eldest child, Madhuri felt and understood the circumstances her family was facing. She couldn’t continue her education after class 12 because of these financial constraints.
However, destiny had other plans for her. She came to know about our SEED project through a community mobilization drive and decided to pursue an Advance Computer Course at Mumbai Smiles. This was a turning point in her life. After the completion of the course, she was able to land up a job at Marol Pragatik High School as a Computer Teacher. She now contributes to her family income and teaches students from standard 5th to 10th.
She owes her success to the teachers at Mumbai Smiles who used such teaching methods that the students could understand the concepts easily. She also appreciates the fact that the teachers were always available to solve the problems any number of times.
This training has turned around her life completely and because of this training, she is now looking forward to pursue her dream of completing her education.
